League Rules

  1. All matches will be played using conventional scoring and will be the best of 5 sets.

  2. League matches to be played by the closing date shown on the leagues.

  3. League points will be earned and recorded based on the match result as follows:

  4. The total points gained at the end of the league period will determine the relevant finish positions within the league. In the event of a tie then the points against will determine tied positions. Should there be a further tie then the match result between tied players will be decider.

  5. League Promotion and Relegation:

    Promotion: Leagues 2 to 4: 1st and 2nd placed promoted 1 League. Leagues 5 and below: 1st placed promoted 2 Leagues, 2nd placed promoted 1 League. Please note that the person finishing in third place will remain in their current league.

    Relegation: League 1: 4th and 5th placed relegated 1 league. League 2 and below: 4th placed relegated 1 league, 5th placed relegated 2 leagues.

  6. Failure to turn up for a pre-arranged league match will result in a walkover being claimed by your opponent. Discretion in claiming a walkover will be left to your opponent. Points claimed for a walkover will be 3-0.

  7. Failure to play in two consecutive league periods may result in automatic withdrawal from the leagues. Please advise league organiser of any extenuating circumstances.

  8. Entry to the leagues:

    Add name to next empty league position.

    Challenge a league winner and advise organiser of the result. Challenges only permitted up to, and including, league 5 and must be advised prior to the posting of the next leagues. Only one challenge per period will be permitted, first challenge advised will be taken.

    Anyone dropping out of the leagues, or withdrawn due to failure to play their matches, WILL NOT normally be permitted to challenge back in to the leagues, except for exceptional circumstances. Re-entry on a challenge will be at the discretion of the league organiser.

  9. It is essential that every effort is made, and shared in, arranging your league matches. I am suggesting that the contact arrangements indicated with the leagues are adopted as an equitable approach.

  10. For ease of contact will all league members please annotate with their preferred contact telephone numbers. This number will be used in future league postings.

  11. Keep the leagues active.
